BRYTE Exposures: Photography by Members of Providence's Refugee Community and Brown Students

Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment (BRYTE) is a student-run organization that works with the International Institute of Rhode Island to engage recently resettled refugees in Providence in one on one tutoring. The students in this program are from Liberia, Haiti, Iraq, Somalia, Eritrea, Burundi, Rwanda, and Iran. The photographs in this exhibition were taken primarily by refugee-students in the BRYTE program. Each student involved was given his or her own camera and asked to record his/her visual experience in Providence. Many of the refugee students and their families involved in the exhibit will be at the opening. There will also be a dance performance by a refugee dance group in Providence led by a Rwandan student who participates in the program. Food and beverages will be provided.

The reception is Sunday November 2 from 4-7PM. Come to meet some members of Providence's international community and to celebrate their work! The dance performance will begin at 4:30.
